"In response to the Dealer Product Committee recommendations of “provide us with action models that create excitement at the dealership”, we created the “Shadow” GLI and presented this as a possible lifecycle measure. Since the vehicle consists of the PIA body kit and blackened mirrors currently in the parts system, the dealers suggested that we send this out to the dealer body so they could do it now rather than waiting for a special model run."

| What it is |

The "Shadow" version of the GLI/GTI is the standard model with a black section of hood leading to the grille and a red pinstripe (barely noticable on the red) to match.
From what is currently known there are no engine/suspension modifications. The shadow is just a cosmetic difference over the standard GLI/GTI.
